Katie Murdoch Genealogy and History Room Research Policy

Due to the increase of long distance research requests, the Genealogy and History Room at the Pope County Library will begin charging $10.00 per hour, in half hour increments, with a minimum charge of $5.00 for research. This cost will include postage and copy fees for up to 10 photocopies or 5 microfilm copies. We charge $.15 cents for each additional computer printout or photocopy and $.25 cents per additional microfilm copy.

Single obituaries or articles will be copied and mailed for a $2.00 fee, as long as the name, month and year are provided. Multiple obituaries will be charged as research by the hour.

All research requests should include any pertinent information, including known dates, family members, birth or death locations, etc. After the research is completed, a letter or e-mail will be sent to the patron describing the information found and the cost of the research. Copies will be mailed after we have received payment.
